I would not be at all surprised to find out that he changed his defense based on the kids in the program and is building, through recruiting, to a more aggressive style and formation.

I cringe every time I hear him say that he doesn't care about yards. I think he actually might care about them but knows that the defense he has to run is better suited to managing points and not worry about yards. At heart he's an aggressive defensive coach and I still think he'd like to go back to that. He always comments about how he loves the hard hitting, wild *ss, crazy killyourself recklessness of the Craig Bills type.

Remember too that he has said this will be the final year that the rape scandal will impact the defense; so he's been managing on fewer talented db's that entire time.

I could be totally wrong and MrM could very well care only about points; but I really think he would love to see a defense to go along with the offense. I also wouldn't be surprised to find out that he's preparing for a return to aggressive style and formation. Somebody whoi follows recruiting better than me will have to say if we're going after players to fit a more aggressive scheme - like the 3-3-5.
