Correct. It works that way, too.
Say you're driving recklessly and someone steps out in front of your car. You may not intend to harm anyone, and it was an accident. But you could go to jail.

Or you intentionally shoot a gun into a clump of trees to show off to your friends. Unknown to you there's a dude in there and he's killed. Or, more to your point, you're shooting illegally in city limits and someone runs in front of you while shooting. You're subject to prosecution.

Bottom line: you can be liable for accidents.

Again I don't think Baker intended to do anything wrong. Where I differ from the refs / what the rules *should* say is that Baker was making a basketball move to get out of a trap. Inadvertent contact doesn't seem to merit a flagrant 2.
