If it was for a conference championship, or in a bowl game, I absolutely agree you fight until it's over.

My point, however badly made initially was 1) extremely low chance of winning 2) You're in the middle of the season, why risk injury to key players in this situation 3) Take your lumps and live on to fight another day.

The Big12 is wide open this year, crazy things could happen before the season is over. The two teams to play in the CCG could possibly have one or both with two losses. If Fifita would have been injured, that would eliminate AZ to even be in position, and they'd be kicking themselves. Heck, he took enough hits he may even be a scratch for this week's game.
