I second this, my employer wouldn't bat an eye at this

Fortunately they would also understand if my son was in the hospital and I needed a week. I also don't have to ask to use the bathroom. It's not a bad gig.

The company is not going to be measurably impacted by one employee coming on board, having an emergency, and having to delay their on-boarding for a week.
