You're assuming SEC and B1G control the committee, which is inaccurate. I think
the committee will look to spread bids around and increase interest nationally.

I hadn't really considered this until today. But would BYU need to win the Big12
Cougar TD

The Big12 could get 3 teams in the CFP if Kstate, BYU, and ISU go undefeated the
CougarTwins

could, but would they? I would be shocked with 3 Big12 teams.

I think most would be shocked with 3 Big 12 teams, because they don't trust any

The odds are stacked against the outcome, but a 1 loss B12

Even a 2 loss team with 11 wins is likely to get in. Highly unlikely an 11 win

Or ISU, BYU, and CU could all be undefeated in conference play.

There are a lot of other factors - namely what other teams in the country do.

To be safe a team needs to be in the top 10 maybe 11 in rankings for an at large spot.

Last year, the #11 team would have been the last at-large bid. That team was

I think 11-2 (lose CCG) probably gets you in. 10-2 is risky.

Every 11-win P5 team since the start of the CFP has finished in the top 11.

I don't think that the Big 12 will be given an at-large bid

It could happen based on circumstances

It could but when push comes to shove, the Big 12 will get excluded
BYU Fan

It probably depends on other circumstances. I think a 1 loss Utah team
Belboz

But to get an at-large bid, Utah would be at best 11-2
BYU Fan

that was a bad one. How about Iowa State or BYU?
Belboz

It's certainly possible and would probably be deserved at 12-1

Looking back 5 season (skipping Covid year), 100% of teams with 11-2 records or

11 wins basically guarantees BYU a top-10 CFP ranking and thus a likely CFP bid

10-2 in the regular season puts them in the discussion for an at-large bid, but

Isn't most likely that if the B12 gets 2 teams in, it will be the winner and loser of the conference championship game?

Absolutely. Losing in the CCG typically doesn't result in a drop in ranking

There are 7 at large bids available. Notre Dame just has to be decent and they

There is a 0% chance any 8-4 or 9-3 team gets in over any 11-1 P4 team

Every 11-win P4 will almost for sure make the playoff. The question comes to

I agree on 8 win teams, 9 win teams are going to depend on who it is

Except for the fact that a 9-win team from SEC/B1G has literally NEVER been

You're making the mistake of equating P5 with the current P2+2. The better
