task of building a new scheme no one has played before. Totally new system with a lot of new players, no matter how talented, will take time. Add in the improved excellent teams in the BXII and being in middle 3rd would be a good season. Think you might be underestimating the competition and the jump they'll take with a more consistent system & players within that system. Throw in a new coach who's never coached a college team and that adds to the task this first year.
Don't believe I'm dissing on BYU but just recognizing the challenge ahead and potential of other teams in BXII.
