Prior to this dude the rivalry was alive and well (I attended BYU in the early 80s) and remember the vandalism of school statues etc and preparing for those shenanigans.

LaVell was a gentleman as were the Utah head coaches at the time (pre Urban Meyer).
Then Meyer came in and really poisoned the well. Then to make matters worse, Twittingham (a BYU football alum) replaced Meyer but didn’t tone down the TDS crap.

Then conference realignment happened and BYU got left out and Utah began out recruiting BYU which really didn’t happen before. They got in a power conference and rubbed salt in BYUs religious bias wound (BYU has always had the resume to be in P5).

The relationship between BYU and UU became more and more toxic and our brothers up North went from being the Runnin Utes to the insufferable Pukes.
