Exactly, why can't it work more like car insurance? We all just shop around and

pick the insurer we want, nothing to do with employer, and we can go get ourselves fixed at any reputable repair shop. The insurer provides a list of vetted shops (clinics) in case we would like that service, but we aren't locked in.

It could all be so much simpler.
