They have focused heavily the last few years on the boys who will be seniors this year, and they have become a pretty solid team. In addition, the success has resulted in their ability to recruit a handful of other good players who have transferred in. I guess it will remain to be seen if they make a deep run in state this year. If not, then I guess the argument remains that it probably wasn’t worth it, especially for those boys who were seniors the last two years, and who are juniors and sophomores this coming year that will probably be left with empty cupboards after this year, and won’t get to play much if the next focus turns to this year’s incoming freshmen after this year.
Farmington’s first baseball coach seemed to have the same strategy, and he was able to make a couple deep runs in the state tournament.
