I know a couple of these recruits were heavily recruited by BYU. BYU put in a ton of effort.
You can't make a Mormon kid go to BYU. Sometimes people just choose somewhere else.

It seems too many people think just because you are LDS you have to go to BYU.

I know of several very good LDS kids that just felt it was a better choice to go to another school. They didn't hate BYU, they were recruited hard by BYU but they made a choice.

This narrative that an LDS kid goes somewhere else and it must mean the coaches didn't offer or try hard enough is so far off base.

Yes, they are times the coaches do miss on and don't recruit a kid hard enough but not all the time.
