Critics would of course grill BYU for seeking its self-interests at the expense of justice & integrity-- had it gone that route (wouldn't shock me to have seen an opportunist like Gordon lead the charge, actually. Ha!).

But there's solid ethical grounds for seeking for a compromise, I think. A compromise that would've held off on punishing Brandon for a month.
