The other side is that BYU has big-time donors who want good seats but can't get them because the family has had these
seats since 1970, when grandpa tossed BYU a few hundred bucks. They don't have to donate anything to keep those seats, they've kept them through 2 generations, meanwhile, everyone around them needs to donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to retain the ability to select seats that good. Those seats need to go to people who are willing to donate $$ to BYU.
