Detmer's TO's were due to risks he took and he admits it
...but not all turnovers were created equal. For instance, he had quite a few picks on 3rd down where he forced the ball down the field into coverage. Not much different than a punt if intercepted and worth the risk. This is why he threw 4 or 5 picks his junior year against Utah State and BYU still won 45-10.
