Because motorcycles and busses are both commonly the right solution for
many many individuals. Some use both - take the bus on a rainy day.
Whole life is literally almost never the right solution for any individual under any circumstance.
That is why it is a bad metaphor.
A better metaphor would be haircut vs decapitation. One is best for most people and the other is only best for someone that wants to die instantly - extremely rare.
