We were married in the Washington DC temple and a family member had reserved a hotel for our wedding party in a very bad part of town. We just got back to the hotel after my wife’s endowment and start getting ready to get some dinner when we hear a bunch of screaming. We open the door to see two guys running past our room and down the hall. My soon to be bride goes running after them (yeah, that is the kind of person I married). They get away, but we learn that they held up my wife’s grandmother and tied up her cousin in the room next to us. Fortunately, the wallet they took was actually empty. But my wife spent the night before our wedding in the back of a police car because she was a witness and needed to identify suspects. The worst part was that the manager admitted to us that it was the third burglary that week!
