I am addicted to the show Air Disasters
and I think I have seen three episodes where the crew got distracted and didn't set the flaps and couldn't get more than ten feet off the ground

Crazy to think that if I flew on a 1987 plane today it's older than the 1943

Depends on how well the maintenance has been kept up more so than age

It’s not uncommon at all for private aircraft to be that old or older.

I don't know about commercial planes but for private planes very little would be original.

That 1987 integra probably isn’t much different than my 1997 Honda Civic, so

B-52 has been in service since 1955. The newest one was delivered in 1962.

Mil planes are more like The Ship of Theseus.

That too, the vast majority of crashes even in old planes is pilot error
