FYI, he produced a Big 10 OL of the year in 3 of his 4 years there.
Next, he was not fired from Michigan. Fans need to understand the difference between being fired and not being retained.
He was simply not retained, because a new coach came in and wanted his guys... pretty standard for the industry. So using that against him is just bad form. Do all the homework or not at all.
Outside of that, Hoke came into a program that was a failure, Rich Rod with the worst record for any coach in Michigan history and just put on 3 years probation.
It's not like Hoke was getting it done or bringing in great QBs. It's extremely hard to cherry pick things about a position coach when the problems in the program start from the top. But Funk did have the conference players of the year every year but one, and had 3 OL drafted in 3 years.
So many variables that have nothing to do with one single position coach. There aren't enough points in a mess of a program to single out one coach.
In other places he's quickly turned things around. One program with a head coach that couldn't do things well, is not a great sample size. Hardly what we can call a downward trend for a position coach.
