Since going Independent BYU has been running an annual surplus of $4M-$5M a year according to publicly available reporting to the DOE. There’s ZERO reason a chunk of that can’t be used to pay coaches better. ZERO!

In 2015, the assistant coaches (all sports) salary pool was $2.8M.

Yes, you are off base. I've seen the salary of 1 coach. It was much higher.
