Tough to say your data is apples to apples. Is this college kids in general, athletes? What is the socioeconomic background? Families educational background? All make a huge difference. Equally comparing an inner city kid from an uneducated family to a wealthy educated family is not very helpful data? Are you comparing a person who drops out to support their family the same situation as Mika?
Mika comes from a wealthy family, his Dad is one of the top guys at PE firm (small but he does very well), his Dad went to HBS, given where his wife is from it is likely she comes from an educated family.......education looks to be important and likely not the subset your data follows.
If Mika does not go back to school it is because he does not want to, not because he played bball. If I were a betting man I would say the odds are very good that Mika goes back to school.
