Sorry, but I don't agree with all of that
But I do agree with some.

I have witnessed cases of BYU fans calling out their own, although it definitely seems more frequently called out on a message board than in real life. I can get that it is hard to call out the offender in person. But it is still the right thing to do.

I read your post and almost responded the first time. The point of your post was sort of "those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks," or in other words, BYU fans are guilty to so don't call out the other side. But when I read your post I came away thinking "why didn't the BYU fans intervene? What was wrong with them that they let something like that happen?" I wish we as fans would police ourselves better, on both sides. That is the real issue.

What is the point of "home field advantage?" Is it not, inherently, intimidation at some level? There are too many people who enjoy the feel of intimidating and carry it to fellow fans instead of just to athletes in an impersonal way. And, frankly, I have seen that behavior in my experience frequently from Ute fans. And I have yet to see a single instance of one of their own putting them in their place, although according to the Ute fans among us it apparently happens all the time.

Look, I have seen and experienced enough that I'm not going to question the honesty of the accounts of verbal abuse like the resident Utes. I'm not going to pretend that there aren't also BYU fans that need to be taught sportsmanship and respect. But that is irrelevant to the original posters question about why LDS Ute fans consistently turn a blind eye to what their fellow fans do to others of their faith.
