My employer (large Fortune 50) is doing mandatory 5x8 in the office nationwide
starting in January. They're using badge, LAN, and company phone data to track hours in the office for exempt employees.

Overall, it will be a more strict policy than what existed even before the pandemic.

I'm fascinated by this trend. A lot of executives seem convinced that there are huge gains in "culture" and productivity to be had as the pendulum swings back their way. But, I wonder if there's a bit of naivete in thinking the white collar labor market can un-ring the bell and simply policy its way back to 2019 (or earlier) without consequences.

Time will tell.
