I understand that there could be reasons why a team would be favored against another: personnel/scheme matchups could favor one team, home field advantage, etc. But if one team is ranked 20+ spots higher than the other, they should in theory be able to overcome those. I understand if the rankings are somewhat close (like a #21 team being favored over a #16 team), but #11 against a team not receiving a single vote?
I'm not saying that BYU doesn't deserve to be ranked #11, I'm just saying that it doesn't seem right that somebody would say "team A is one of the best in the country, while team B is not in the top 25 teams in the country, but I give team B the edge over team A" unless the gap was closer than I think it is. They're likely not being honest about their valuation of one of the teams (either team B is better than they put in their rankings, or team A isn't as good as they put in their ranking).
Do you get what I'm saying? What am I missing? Make it make sense.
