The two years he shot it well were the two years the line was moved up.
I’m not saying MJ was a bad midrange player. I’m saying that just because someone is a good midrange shooter doesn’t mean they’ll automatically be a good three point shooter.
People have different abilities. They have different strengths and weaknesses. But saying that a player is good at X means he’s good at Y doesn’t add up.
Tim Duncan is one of the best midrange shooters of all time, but he shot 18% from 3. He also played in an era where it was more common for big men to extend their range. Why couldn’t he hit threes like a guy like Dirk?
