Was In Venezuela not Mexico back in the day
But second the cartels leaving missionaries alone. They honestly protected and respected us for the most part (though I’ve heard different things in Central America).

Avoiding certain neighborhoods at night was very important. The main threat for elders was punk kids who didn’t know any better that was the one time I was held up and they were very disappointed with their haul.

At least in my mission, Sisters were usually in the safest areas and I assume that’s probably the case in most.
