A guy a couple levels above me in the heirarchy talked to me about it to make sure that my precious feelings weren't hurt, but he also added that he knew I had no interest in management before giving me a chance to respond.

I don't want extra headaches. I just want to get paid.
In my company, being a manager doesn't excuse anyone from doing actual work. All of us work on stuff. THe manager, however, gets stuck taking more blame and joining more meetings. I dont' want any of that.
