Of course, anyone watching the game could figure that out. Sadly, too often our guys on the floor seemed more interested in watching the game when on D, rather than actually playing it. I played on HS teams that did a much better job of playing tight defense on good shooters. That weakness has been exposed several times this season.
I hope that KY is able to find transfers or HS recruits with good ability to play a tight defense. Playing a zone can help protect the paint, but a strong opponent can destroy it from the outside. Half of Texas' assists would be more accurately credited to BYU.
I keep hoping that BYU BB and FB can someday get past the point where they have this incredible ability to make a good player or even a backup player look like they're all-world.
Texas had three guys that we could never seem to slow down all game long. I have to give the Texas coach credit for the way they shut down BYU's outside game. The game film should be required viewing for future BYU teams.
Fortunately, this game doesn't detract from the sweet upward team trajectory that KY and his staff have launched. Next season could be spectacular, especially if Demin choses to stay for another year. I'm not sure Kannon has the maturity to stick around and fix the things that have kept him off the floor. Hope he does, but I'm doubtful.
