KY's strength as a coach in the NBA wasn't necessarily the X's and O's although he has proven quite capable of that. His
strength was in player development. That is the magic that makes this difficult to copy. Just take a look at the roster and see the progress of the players who stayed. AJ isn't coming to BYU because BYU is a championship team, or winning a Natty (that would be seriously amazing though). He is coming because KY possesses the unique ability to develop him as a player to prepare him for the next phase which is the NBA. All of those NBA players that had KY on speed dial continued to talk about how much he helped them with their game.

So many programs out there are going to jump on the strategy du jour and get themselves and NBA guy and many of those are going to flounder because their NBA guy is a coach and not a developmental guru.

So the question for Utah is having attempted the NBA guy twice for 13 of the past 18 years and not receiving the bang for their bucks, they are going to try again with Alex Jensen. Is he a developmental guru able to maximize the production out of the roster he has drawing elite recruits to Utah, or is he another coach with NBA experience? If he is the latter, it might work out okay, but won't pop and sizzle the way things are in Provo.
