Unless you can point to some evidence beyond "lots of people dislike Elon right
now," yeah, it is crazy to ascribe a political motive to someone who has other more obvious motives.
It shouldn't be controversial that lidar is a better technology for this stuff. The reason Tesla uses cameras isn't that they're better, it's that they're cheaper.
