I don’t like the prospect of playing a “play-in”’winner though… seems to be a higher risk to play somebody that’s hot.

But the actual chances of ending up playing the winner of Boise State and UNC is insanely improbable… both are “last teams in” bubble teams and could be ousted by bid-stealing ColoSt or American winner and/or could be excluded altogether from the tourney by some teams the committee feels have better resumes.
