the friends/cousins hanging out with my kids are more reckless or clutzy than my kids. Had a son's friend break one of my recliners.

Never told any of the parents about either incident. I just consider it part of the cost of having a house that my kids like to bring friends to. The kids usually feel really bad about it. No need to shift the cost burden of an accident, even if reckless, to their parents.
