Last thing. Here is what I think the future of one and done looks like at BYU.
I think most years will start feeling frustrating because we will lose some games we shouldn't. I think your 20-9 seasons may become a regular thing but here is the difference in how I think that plays out.

I think and hope we will start follow the trajectory of the Duke, Kansas, Kentucky when they have had lots of young NBA talent. What BYU has always been weak at is ending strong and the committee cares a ton about that. They want a team that is peaking not descending. There has been a bunch of years where the teams above look so so half way into the season and then young guys figure the competition and their system out and those teams get super competitive in the latter half of the season. They make a run in the conference tournament and in march madness because they are clicking at the end. Lets say that only happens every 3 years to begin with and then every 2.

That is worth way way more in the long run than BYU having 25-6 seasons and then losing in the first round as a high seed. I'm not saying that will happen this year but I'm guessing that that is more of the goal of KY long-term. Then you convince a couple of young guys who were solid, but won't get drafted in the first like they want to be, that another year will set them up better. Its legitimate good advice in many of those scenarios. They are more savvy the next year and we have added more talent and that can become a very special year. We bring in a hyped SR transfer player and now the sky is the limit.

That is the trajectory we should be hoping for and its not going to happen after 2 months of competitive play in our new system.
