The thing about defense is what concerns me most
It’s not just related to defense. It has more to do with the stylistic differences between college and the NBA. I think you’re right about the intensity and different schematics that are used in college. NBA is much more straightforward in frankly, a lot of teams coast on defense during the regular season.

That will get you blown out in college.

The same principle holds in terms of structure, schematics and sets on offense. College is obviously more talent poor and thus utilizes these things at a much higher level than in the NBA.

Young et al are not dumb. They weren’t born into the NBA and know enough about basketball to adjust. But adjust they must. Some coaches do it faster than others and some never do it successfully. Based entirely on what I’ve seen this year, I think that adjustment might be tougher than what we had hoped for this year. How much tougher I can’t yet say.
