his NBA-bound 1- and 2-year trophy recruits if he wants to define success as ‘winning’ seasons and not just as getting kids into the NBA—which I have no doubt he wants success on the court as much as if not more than just putting kids into the NBA.
This also means his on-court scheme, etc. will need to mesh both with developing kids acumen for the NBA as well as be something that is successful on the court at BYU.
I don’t believe Demin or Dybantsa carry the alpha gene to the level that they will take over, dominate and carry BYU on their back into the S16 let alone a F4 as Freshman and possibly even as sophomores—and anything beyond that is highly highly unlikely they are still at BYU. Remember, when Jimmer did it he was a jr and sr. So, KY will need to Dybantsa to be a piece of a puzzle and not even the main piece—he needs guys like Saunders, 2023-24 Hall, etc. to stick around and build a strong core that Dybantsa can then compliment for a year.
Having watched AJ play in person and talking to others that did as well, my expectations of what he’ll be able to do single handidly in 1 yr at byu are very tempered right now.
