I know that we as BYU fans want to believe it is, and the past couple of years would trend that direction, however, there have been unique circumstances for UU in both years.

Next year’s success isn’t as tied to this year as it historically has been. The transfer portal changes everything. Rosters can do a complete 180 in a single season. I see they added some weapons on offense. They may finally have a good OC. There is still an entire transfer period to go.

I think the culture at both BYU and UU will favor in state/LDS talent to BYU, but there is a very big source of talent that could favor Utah outside of our state. It is still an appealing program to play for.

The BYU experience and unique nature of the university will appeal to the “right fit” players for BYU, but as time goes on the recruiting target pools of players for UU and BYU could get farther sister from each other. We might even see a bigger draw of BYU target players go to USU than UU.
