I did mine myself, which is the least expensive way to go. You have to be
careful in getting bids, because there are some real crooks out there in Utah County.

There are tons and tons of models out there. If you decide to do it yourself, I would recommend getting one about the same size, especially height, of your previous one; while that is not absolutely necessary, it does reduce most potential extra work for getting the right fit. Get a good brand, and then find out their sizes. You may need to order it to get the right size; that usually takes a week or less to arrive.

One con of doing it yourself is you will need to do the work of hauling out the old one and taking it to the dump. Also make sure you get the correct pipe tape for the gas line. Also, retain the drain pipe from the old water heater and put it on your new one. My last one I couldn't do that, so I had to buy a new one for $10 or so.
