One of those 12 or 11 win teams will have to go to Philadelphia. That isn't fair to the Eagles or the 12 win team. If you did it by record you would have Lions or Vikings the 1 and 2 seed with the Eagles the 3. Commanders 4, Packers 5 (assuming they both win) and Rams 6 and Bucs 7.

In that format the Eagles draw the Rams at home instead of Packers or Commanders. Vikings/Lions loser gets Bucs at home rather than having to travel to the Bucs. Seems a better way of doing it.

The main issue is that teams play each team in their division twice. Unlike the NBA where they play every team in their conference 4 times.
