This was not intended to be putting down BYU and frankly we still look pretty good by this, even though it leaves out our best results in the 80s.  I was mostly just considering the related post that said that ASU had a strong history...because they really don't.

Honestly, the problem is that there's only 7 Big 12 teams (Colorado and above) that have been relevant 10+ times in the last 35 years, which is probably a big part of what hurts our conference perception.

And more specifically, this shows why the conference struggled so much with perception this year. The best consistently good Big 12 teams in recent history have been Oklahoma St, TCU and Utah (with Kansas St, BYU, WVU and Colorado forming a solid second tier).

And with all of Oklahoma St, TCU, and Utah being mediocre (TCU) to bad (Utah) to abysmal (Oklahoma St), that somewhat limited built-in credibility with the voters.
