Unfortunately for us, BYU looks like the one team that should have been flipped for SMU.
But we are now talking about the last team in — which is where the debate belongs.
It is now clear no one else with a case belonged in. Certainly no additional SEC team belonged.
Two of the most competitive games were ASU and BSU — the two teams the P2 honks complained about most.
And were one blown call/coverage away from zero SEC teams in the final four.
As for all the blowouts, there are structural changes they should make to seeding (although it’s debatable how much that will help).
However, particularly in the first round, most years there actually is a big difference between teams 5 and 12 when #5 is at home and highly motivated.
It’s also college football and there’s a big difference in the way some groups of 18-24 year olds handle a bunch of time off especially now they have a good bit of money.
Team leadership will be at a premium in this new world.
