Sure, it's a very common signal to your own team. Most teams use it. But do you
know what BYU also does? Kick coverage runs to the end zone every time. Every time. Why? Because a "kill" signal is not in the rule book and means absolutely nothing. Not covering a kick just because the other team made a signal that has no real meaning (and if it's not in the rule book then it has no real meaning) is coaching malpractice.
