BYU isn't in the SEC. They aren't limited to 85 scholarships.
BYU has also said they haven't decided what they will do yet for sure. I do suppose they could be telling some 20 kids that they don't know if they will get a scholarship or not....but that doesn't really make a lot of sense to tell kids at this point in time. If they really haven't decided yet, I highly doubt they are "offering" walk on spots right now.
This kid is almost certainly being offered a scholarship.
I would be really shocked if BYU doesn't end up giving out all 105 scholarships. That would be a complete reversal from the way they have been handling finances the last couple years. They have been using EVERY financial advantage that is allowed under the rules lately. Why would they take advantage of this one?
