My brother had a life insurance policy--he would have told you that he'd wished he had more after the fact, but between that and social security benefits she was able to not have to seek employment. He was an early to mid career attorney, but they didn't let that get to their heads and lived modestly. All the things you are told to do financially.

I know a lot single moms have it harder in that way though.
