Eh. Football landscape was far different in 84. Was no consolidation of "P5"
talent distorting the disparities. An Academy (AFA) was ranked #4 in the country coming in to Provo in 85.
The caliber of the 84 championship team was validated by the NFL DNA of the roster - Matich, Rodney Thomas, Leon White, Kurt Gouveia, Jim Hermann, Lee Johnson, Koz, Bellini, Bosco (premature ending to his career thanks to his injuries), Sikahema et al - team was stacked with NFL talent, on par with the top teams of its era.
If BSU matches that I'll buy that we have parallel narratives when this comes up in five years. But it won't, bc they won't.
