is in a stronger position than Utah’s, or at least since 2010 when they received the Pac 12 invite. We’ve had the better teams a number of times during that time period, but I’m talking about the overall strength of the two programs.
*Same conference (level playing field)
*NIL (basketball’s success shows what we’re capable of here and generates publicity)
*Haven’t lost to Utah since 2019
*KWhitt on the decline (and not likable)
*Kalani & staff w/ a positive trajectory (and viewed favorably by others)
*Less stringent Honor Code enforcement (and selling the HC as a positive)
*Likable high profile NFL players/coaches (Puka, Andy, Fred, Taysom)
*11-2 season and in the CFP conversation
*Stronger alumni base
The competitive advantages they used to have (Pac-12 vs Indy, better coaches, no Honor Code) just don’t seem to be there any more. Maybe my blue goggles are a little thick, but I think we finally have the upper hand as an overall football program - and I think it’s deeper than a simple good season vs bad season comparison.
