'21 and '22 were best of years for utah football with them winning the P12 and forcing historical performances by opponents in Rose Bowl losses.
Going in to '23 and '24, they had all the momentum. High preseason rankings, picked to win their league and the popular pick for the CFP, largley based on the return on their QB. The number one player in the state, the highest paid NIL player, the guy who got all the attention, and all the credit.
That guy played no snaps in 2023 and very few ineffective snaps in 2024. utah had one of the worst offenses in football both seasons and finished 8-5 and 5-7. Based on the idea of Rising returning they had no alternate plan and used walkons and true freshman to cobble seasons together. The utes spent most of last season as a running joke. It now appears they have lost all momentum and good will. Fired OC, 20 players in the portal, losing starters to their rival school. Things are trending badly.
So....in the final determination is Rising a hero or scapegoat in utah football history?
