Yes the game turned out great and the season should be celebrated, but that decision more than any could have cost the team dearly and opened the door for momentum to swing in Colorado’s direction at a critical point in the game.
Jake plays the game like my teenage sons play video games — always feeling like they can pull off the miracle play even when it’s not necessary and the potential or more likely downside far outweighs the likelihood of them making the play.
I still think he’s the better choice by far for next years team (vs a portal QB new to the system), but Jake has got to find a way to improve in this area to take this team to the next level. Love the kid’s competitiveness, confidence and heart — right up to the point that it puts the team’s success at risk for no good reason.
