—Give Arod credit for the drive up 27–7. The third down call on the crosser to Kingston works to perfection. Great scheming and execution.
—The Retzlaff INT to end that drive was every bit as bad as it felt in real time. It was an absolutely terrible decision and play. Indefensible. And even worse given where they were on the field in the situation where a field goal was a gimme and puts you up three touchdowns and three extra points.
— Colorado’s best counterpunch all night was waiting for us to commit a completely unnecessary turnover.
—D followed that turnover up by completely blanketing Travis Hunter as Sanders tries to go to him anyway. The Buffs wanted the momentum grabbing home run. Jay Hill all over Colorado’s intentions, and his defense executes.
—On that very same play, the announcers really were silly, trying to create pass interference from nothing. They go to their rules guy, and for the second time, he unequivocally shut down their pro Colorado whining, resulting in a moment or two of dead silence.
—I have not seen us block punt return so effectively all season. Complete domination of the Colorado gunners and coverage team.
—While the Shedeur love fest from Pasch continues in all its glory, BYU essentially ices the game with a methodical, butt whupping TD drive in which Jake again plays well. Until he’s completely late on the perfectly schemed, open conversion pass that gets picked off. The capability is there. Nearly all of JR’s issues are in his head.
—Pasch does come off as an oversensitive weenie as Dvorcek recounts the Connor Pay story.
— BYU runs them over, aaaaaaand more on Coach Prime and Colorado. BYU is basically peripheral to the coverage from the booth in this quarter. To my surprise, it’s actually worse as the game goes on. Comical in their emphasis on the team that’s getting blown out.
— BYU slammed the door. Colorado never back in it.
