Even the OP is an example of how in general people are more respectful
Of human life and opposed to oppression and human suffering now more than ever.

The coliseum was a place that people would go and watch other enslaved humans battle to the death or get killed by animals for entertainment.

Other cultures and societies performed human sacrifices in public and tortured enemies in public to make an example of them.

Now days - there is generally condemnation of Russia invading Ukraine.

Regardless of which side someone supports (which is dependent on the media one consumes) there is support and donations given to charities to help Palestinians and condemnation of innocent lives lost on both sides of that conflict.

So we've gone from human suffering as a socially acceptable form entertainment to today many in the world attempting to help stop violence and relieve the suffering of complete strangers.
