I left the office three hours before the scheduled flight time in order to get to the gate at BWI my usual two hour early. Traffic was way worse than normal due to a horrific traffic accident on the 495.

I rushed to return the rental car, take the shuttle to the airport, get through the TSA security line, make a mad dash to the gate and got there just as they were closing the gate. I boarded and found that they had already given my first class seat to a frequent flier.

They reseated the frequent flier and I sat down just as the clock hit the scheduled flight time.

As the airplane pulled away from the gate I felt relief that I had the wise habit of leaving for the airport early.
