1) the clock operator needed to start the clock ....
when the first player touched it.
2) There was a penalty on the Athletic Director for being on the field yelling at the refs. Had there actually been time, there would have been a 10 second runoff.

I remember thinking that during the play but also thought there was no way that play could run and not use the entirety
