Ok, what we have is tungsten carbide tipped
They are what SIL had ....
Wide flute with butterfly tip that i think is tungsten carbide.
Is that not the right tip?

Having the right tool makes a huge difference. Buy some good bits for the drill and it will go way faster.

I remember one time I was trying to drill a few holes in a tile backsplash to mount a bracket for a new microwave oven

Use the hollow diamond bits and a spray bottle with water, very easy
